The 500-lb. Attorney Who Was Buried in a Piano Crate

Friday, April 25th, 2008

I ran into a buddy recently who reminded me of the lawyer I helped bury a couple of years ago. No, this is not a lawyer joke; the lawyer was dead of a heart attack.

My buddy is just like that lawyer, forever fat. He’s into “wait loss,” waiting for something to finally help him lose weight. He knows my business and he mentioned that he needs to get on my program. But he hasn’t, and has been that way for years.

One of my tactics in The Maui Diet for people like him is called “create your own click.” Instead of waiting for something to click to make you lose fat. Because who knows when that might come along? Creating your own click is a proactive approach and easy to do. You just do it—create your own click instead of waiting for it to magically appear. You make it happen. Anyone can do this immediately.

What if you don’t? You can end up like Ed, the 500-pound lawyer who is no longer with us. He suffered a massive coronary infarction—a heart attack—and died in his early 30s.

A tragedy. He was a smart guy and could have put all his intellectual powers to work and lost all the weight he needed to lose. Anyone can. But he didn’t. He was into “wait loss.”

As sad as his death was, another friend who never lets anything get in his way of seeing the humor in things, said before the funeral, “My God, they’re going to need a piano crate to bury Ed in!”

And indeed Ed’s casket was a biggie, which are being made more these days, along with oversize furniture, hospital beds, clothes, etc. At the cemetery we pallbearers actually had to walk uphill hefting Ed in that piano crate-sized casket. I thought we were going to have heart attacks.

Think something like that could happen to you? Maybe, maybe not. A heart attack is just one of many risks of overweight. We now know overweight is connected to many more forms of cancer than previously known. Along with stroke, diabetes and all the other unsavory scenarios being overweight invites into your life.

I urge you to get out of your “wait loss” mode and into creating your own click right now to lose weight, healthfully and permanently. I show you how in my books, The Maui Diet and The Maui Diet Daily Action PlayBook. Get your copies and you can and will turn “wait loss” into real weight loss.

Peek In My Medicine Cabinet for Fat Loss and Spectacular Health

Wednesday, April 23rd, 2008

I had to check my medicine cabinet after my older sister recently sent me one of those emails about baby boomers getting older, and the stuff they supposedly need to take. While I enjoyed the humor, I said to myself, I don’t think I take any of these. None. Was that true, I asked myself?

To see, I checked my medicine cabinet and the drawers in my bathroom. There was nothing. I am not bragging; that is simply the truth. I take no prescription drugs. No blood pressure or cholesterol medicine. No drugs of any other kind, over the counter, off the Net, anything.

No laxatives. No Joint Juice or other such creaky bone medicines, and I am of the age where supposedly people need these. No Viagra or other erection medicines; I have never, ever had the slightest need for these products.

I don’t even have aspirin. What do I have? Really boring stuff. You can see in the photo of my medicine cabinet. Band-aids. Contact lens solution. Skin moisturizer. Dental floss. Toothpaste. Anti-bacterial ointment for cuts. Deodorant.

Boring stuff, but no medicines, prescription drugs or any other kind of drug or medicinal potions.

I sailed healthfully through the past flu season, which was a nasty one, without the flu and without a flu shot. I cannot remember the last time I was sick. But I know it wasn’t for long.

I do remember the last time I went to the doctor’s, an emergency trip to the hospital for an appendectomy, more than 22 years ago.

What do I attribute my spectacular health? Easy: my balanced, plant-based diet of whole, fresh, natural foods and lots of great, fun outdoor exercise. My main beverage is pure, filtered water. I eat no junk food, fast food or any kind of refined food. Just whole, natural foods, nothing taken away, nothing added.

Not only is my diet and exercise program great for fat loss and fitness, but for overall spectacular health. I honestly believe that the most important thing we do every day is what we eat and drink. And great outdoor exercise is just as important.

If you want what I have, whatever age you are, and I am 60, try The Maui Diet. You’ll like it, for all sorts of spectacularly healthy reasons.

Fat loss vs. weight loss

Weight loss is not fat loss

Fat loss, weight loss, they’re the same thing, interchangeable, right? No, they are not the same thing at all.

That is one of the major differences between The Maui Diet and most other diet programs. Most others are about weight loss, which is the incorrect approach to this whole area. The Maui Diet is only concerned with taking off excess fat.

Weight is good, not bad; you don’t want to lose weight. Our weight is made up of tissue, muscle, bone, blood, fat, water, and the rest of our physical body. And fat is a necessary, vitalpart of our physical make up.

Excess Fat Is the Enemy!

It is excess body fat that is the big problem. Having excess body fat, being fat, increases your risk of heart attack, stroke, diabetes, hypertension and many more cancers than previously known.

Excess fat is bad news and losing it is the focus of The Maui Diet. Repeat: you don’t want to lose weight; that is just a convenient way of avoiding the word fat. Fat has ugliness attached to it. No one likes to be called fat or think of themselves as fat, so we say overweight, portly, chubby and other words like “take off pounds,” “lose weight,” or “take off inches.”

We can play word games, deny it and dance all around the fact that we are fat and we need to lose fat. But it is more effective to just face up to the job at hand, which is to lose excess fat.

That’s what The Maui Diet does: takes off excess fat, healthfully and permanently. Through adopting a balanced, plant-based diet of whole, fresh, natural foods, and doing daily exercise.

It’s simple and ferociously effective. No “diet” foods with “reduced fat.” No low carb, no carb nonsense. No fat blaster pills. No processed, packaged foods delivered to you. No meal replacement shakes or herbal remedies that melt fat away. Stay far away from all these bogus and often dangerous “weight loss” approaches.

There is no healthier, more effective way to lose fat permanently than to cut out all the fat that comes with eating animals and animal food products like dairy and eggs. And permanently eliminating all refined, processed and fast foods from your diet. These are loaded with sugar, salt and added fats, including hydrogenated fats/oil, one of the single worst substances you can put in your body.

That is the difference between fat loss and weight loss, and the difference between The Maui Diet and all the other programs touting weight loss.

If you’re interested in permanently, healthfully losing all the excess fat you want to lose, go with The Maui Diet.
